Can One Tire Really Work In Every Climate? Michelin CrossClimate2 Is Made For Any Weather
3-Peak Mountain Snowflake Tire That You Can Use Year Round - Sponsored By Michelin
Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - goo.gl/VZstk7
How is it possible for a tire to perform well in all four seasons? How does something that has the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake, which is a certification of winter performance, also have wear characteristics that hold up to hot summer temperatures, all while stacking up against today’s best all-season tires?
First off, I think there’s some important backstory. I was looking for a tire for my Crosstrek that I could genuinely leave on four all four seasons. Why? Because I’m lazy. In my research, the best tire I could find was the Michelin CrossClimate+, an all-season tire certified for winter conditions. So, that’s what I bought. Well, as it turns out, Michelin had already been working on another version of the this tire, the CrossClimate 2, and they asked me if I’d be interested in trying it out early.
So overall - what’s the strategy? On one hand you can have a winter tire. It’s great in deep snow & ice compared to other tires, but not as great at dry or wet braking in higher temperatures, nor great for dry handling. On the other hand you can have a summer tire - excellent performance in dry and usually wet as well, great handling when the temperatures are nice, but you definitely don’t want to drive on these in snowy or icy conditions, or even really cold temperatures depending on the tire.
Very big picture, what we have here is a tire that uses a compound that’s quite similar to a winter compound, but it uses a tread pattern that’s more similar to a summer tread pattern, in that it has very few sipes and cuts, which puts the tire in a very unique position. The ability to be a certified 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake Tire, and thanks to the tread pattern, significantly less wear than a traditional winter tire when it’s driven on in summer months. Absolutely trash and dangerous.. not good in any conditions given the vehicles they where fitted to .
Pirelli or continental , even budgets hold up better than Michelin tyres as a whole..

I just got these installed on my car. It’s quiet. Smooth and really good in the rain. Will see how it holds up, so the tire shop was like these are snow tires. I’m like no. It’s all season. Then tried to argue they were snow tires because it has the snow peaks on the tires 🤦🏽‍♂️. At that point I was like bro. Just put the tires on. That’s y I’m here. No point in arguing.

I have the cross climate 2 on my Lexus. Love the snow traction. Only thing I noticed is how much mud, and road slop it flicks onto my car when turns are made. Also, on gravel roads, it carries the small stones for quite a while. Thinking about putting them on my Tacoma. I like Mechelin tires.

Hello. New to Michelin. I’m looking at these tires but from what I was told by a Michelin dealer, is that Michelin are notorious for weather cracking after 3-4 years. Can anyone tell me from their experience, if they have noticed any issues with the tires? “ Jason “ I’m assuming is your name, can you tell me your experience? Are these tires worth the money? I want to make sure I’m making the right purchase. I drive 50/50, highway/city. Some insight from others would also be welcome.

Products that do 'everything' rarely do anything well. I've had great rain tires that were inferior on dry pavement, made excess noise or gave a rough ride. I live in a climate that has at least 3 distinct seasons. One wet, one dry and one cold.

No, that's wrong my car is antique without abs, you do have the problem with locked up wheels in the rain. Most new cars have abs, but i would not ever buy a newer car, everything is designed to fail. Father was saying how his BMW has special paint on the parts underneath, but over the years it is rustier than anything, this new metal has all kinds of impurities but mainly they have computers and ridiculously overcrowded engines.

Very informative explanation. My new Acura SUV came with Michelin Primacy, I threw them away and bought Defender, which was actually little cheaper and much better than the Primacy. Now the new CrossClimate is better than the Defender. So I may switch to CorssClimate on next set. I consider Continental LX20 the second best tires.
I test drove a 2021 4-Runner the other day and it came with Dunlop tires which is the worst tires in the world. I always wonder how the car manufacturer choose their tires.

Usually the biggest problems you see with directional tires is noise as they wear but this tire is supposed to be quiet according to all the reviews I've seen. So I've just bought a set for my 2018 Rav4. I really didn't need new tires but I don't like the Yokohama Geolandars that it came with. They're not good at all in the wet so I've decided to get these tires. They cost me $900 but there's a $120 rebate going on so it's not so bad.

I had Michelin C / C tires installed on my wife's Camry 15 months ago . She immediately noticed the reduced stopping distances on dry and wet pavement , although the C/C were slightly noisier than the original Primacy . The C /C tires can pull through deep snow but careful throttle is required because I could spin them without effort . I think C / C tires would be a no brainer on AWD vehicles . Since Covid has reduced our yearly mileage , as for most , eliminating the second set of tires & rims can save us a lot of money . This can be the new normal also .

To get around the confusion of All Season with snow capacity, the term used is "All Weather". Nokian's design is asymmetric with one side winter-looking & the other a summer like tread. I was thinking about getting some for the Model 3 but the rolling resistance and noise for their winter tire was better than the All Weather. I see that the CC2 is available for the M3s specs but not in our area. Something worth looking into later I guess.

The Amazon river runs for thousands of miles. At some points it runs through areas of the rain forest that are almost untouched and have been barely explored. Because of the porous limestone in these areas, the river water leaks through the stone and travels deep into the earth, and forms underground pools almost a mile below the surface. Over thousands of years, small blind transparent fish have lived and evolved in these pools. These fish have never seen the sun or surface and have never been seen by the human. These fish care more about this than I do.

All in all, I felt lucky to get those. With C-19, no USA tires were available. I could pretty much only find Chinese tires for sale. Almost bought some Russian tires before the Michelins came into stock, and the tire store could only get the four.
