I never expected to own my Tesla Model 3 for two years. I thought it would be a fun car to document the experience of, but I genuinely love the car and have happily held onto it. That's not to say the experience has been all balloons and rainbows (both great things), as it hasn't. When Tesla service centers are required, that's when the experience isn't so revolutionary. Long waits, poor communication, and no where to easily order parts. What if you want track package brake pads? Well, good luck. I don't know how to order them. Watch the video for the full breakdown of my Tesla service experiences under my nearly two years of Model 3 ownership.

Tesla customer service is trash. It's one reason why they have one of the worst customer service reviews in the auto industry. It was a nightmare just to get my Tesla serviced for warranty work.
bn880
Only takes a video with 3 Million subscribers to get your pads, kudos to Tesla ROFL

@Emil Iliev Please learn to read. These are two different pad kits, each with service included.

$1650?!

@Stephen Dee Pretty sure its $500 per caliper, 4x$500 = $2,000

I'm waiting for right to repair vs Tesla.
varun gupta
ha.. if these are annoyances, try my Mazda dealership in Canada. They suck big time!!! I hate the days when i have to visit there to service my car
blacknester
This is all fun and games while you have the warranty and/or the money.
Nick Howard
under staffing is a good sign of a shitty company. maximize profit at the expense of the customers all while charging top dollar. No thanks tesla
Hogtown1986
You have to admit yours is a 1st-world problem that 99% of Tesla owners won’t encounter. I’d like to know more about the reliability of the car and how Tesla responds to problems. If a carmaker gives me a loaner, frankly I don’t care how long they keep my car. I’m happy to put miles on someone else’s car.
Scott Arendt
Im curious about the news I read, and I don't follow this closely so I could be miss understanding the situation? So I read that a Tesla owner paid for certain software upgrades, the assisted driving was the big one, and when they sold their car to a 3rd party, Tesla disabled the upgrade and wouldn't turn it on unless the 3rd party also paid for it. To me this is double dipping, if a customer pays for a product they should own it and be able to sell it. Its not like the first owner could continue to use it w/out the vehicle. Any thoughts or comments on this? Thanks :)
nemesis always wins
And the moral of the story is, don't buy tesla .
David Hamilton
Tesla doesn't believe in a customer right to repair....that is the main reason they will not get my money. Everything else good, but they have gone the Apple route....
Deyvson Moutinho Caliman
I hope they don't start behaving like Apple and tell you to buy a new vehicle if you need some part.
Andrew Tsang
Tesla - Company doesn't make money selling cars. Tesla cars - Car don't save you a dime at all. (battery cost nobody considers). Tesla owners - always smile in their videos.

This is why you buy a car from an actual car manufacturer not a battery company

Low profile tires make it easier to damage rims.
Steve Walsh-Balshaw
Way too expensive yep these ev's are going to hit you in the pocket big time
speshul
Not buying a telsa, looking at a canoo pick up.
Or just buy a regular car or truck
Dark Mugetsu
Man why do you think the orders for the Rav4 Prime outsell multiple Tesla models combined, better SERVICE and better QUALITY
Michael Schneider
+1 .. Frustrating! .. Fellow YouTube channel TFL had a Tesla horror story getting body components after a modest collision. . Same ole story. .. Reminds me of an Audi USA issue we had with our '96 UrS6 wagon parked at the dealer waiting on a rear hatch wiring harness; the broken harness debilitated the rear brake lights. .. It took Audi NA 6 weeks to come up with the $750.00 harness. While waiting on Audi NA,, a phone call to Audi Centrum, Frankfurt, Germany parts department fielded the question; In stock,,, how many do you need? .. Charging 34.00 Euro .. Hello FedEx. ..

Great info, thanks.

Can't get a set of brake pads? Sorry, they can keep all the tech and fame. What if something more serious and obscure part is needed? Looks like going with a mainstream manufacturer like VW or Toyota is a far better idea.

Tesla is great until you have to deal with their service. I can't even count how many emails I had with them went unanswered.

A service appointment is not an "appointment". It is a "check in time". Sure, it is easy to say a job takes X amount of time, but every customer assumes there is a tech with tools at the ready waiting for them to hand over the keys. That is almost NEVER the case. Also, customers don't realize, all the cars that came in prior added a bunch of concerns and "oh by the ways". There is no way to give an accurate estimate of completion time days before your scheduled check in time. It is the service advisor's job to be straightforward and set a realistic completion time based on the current workload through the shop. No customer likes to hear this, however, this is the reality.
Do everyone a service and don't wait with your service. You'll get better service.

Me: I fail to see how this is relevant to me.

Tesla may have a strong lead in the USA, but in Europe and China Tesla has no chance against VW and NIO. VW will wipe the floor with Tesla in Europe.
Bouslama Karim
Beautiful landscape where you live.

So many BS ads on youtube video to make you sick and annoyed so much to the point that i just change my mind watching the rest of my favorite videos and just close the app

waste of money buying this garbage, any off brand Chinese car is better than Tesal
This Is Your Captain Speaking
My 2000 Buick is coming up on 300k miles, on it's 3rd battery, 4th set of tires, 80 oil changes, 3rd set of brakes, 4 transmission fluid changes and 1 front lower control arms replacement. I've done all the work myself (I don't trust addicts, etc. with my life) and the parts mostly are all aftermarket.
Still runs like a champ.

Tesla service is still at the exotic car stage. It's unacceptable for a car that you drive daily.
Ann Hanover
Now you see THIS is just ONE reason I will NEVER buy one of these shitboxes. I will stick with Lexus.
Tony Nietnagel
What a giant rip-off. Lubricating and cleaning the brakes is 3-5 Dollars max in materials. No way labor is that expensive.
pairojeans
5 reasons not to buy a Tesla:
1 Don't buy one there over priced
2. They have virtually no warranty
3. So far they have a record of being unreliable
4. No dealer network or third party repair shops in case of accident etc
5. Spare parts are virtually unobtainable if you are a DIY mechanic.
Ferdy Tacomaboy
Someone needs to start a recycling yard for Telsa cars and sell the parts.
paul bk
Your performance standards & expectations of global big-deal car manufacturer are low.
STEEL GUTT
How do you get Tesla parts... Answer - YOU DON'T. THAT IS AN EPIC FAILURE. And you want to buy a TESLA? RUN..RUN AWAY FOLKS...FAST!!!
STEEL GUTT
Ugliest car ever made. Plastic, no dash..HORRIBLE!!
john street
well I'm happy to know that if I wear out a set of brake pads I don't have to scrap the car and buy another one.
Matthew Wright
Are their aftermarket manufacturers for Tesla parts or do you have to use OEM parts?
DuketheMyth
Look you bit and it stuck with you. But your minor complaining is major to other people and that's ok. I like working on my cars but tesla is apple who's now not allowing a diy'er to do repairs upgrades. I see it as a status symbol that I'm not fond of but that also exist with in the non tesla owners and again it's ok. To each thier own. Just don't force me to choose as california is doing.
VAS1ON
Uses tape to "fix" a spoiler 😂 oh Tesla.
Pablo Sejas
That’s why you don’t get a tesla
M P
tesla is the netscape of ev's.
Emil Iliev
I’ll buy the last ICE car in the world, and keep repairing it until I die but I won’t buy an EV.
Not because I don’t like them I don’t like all these simple things get ever complicated by the EV companies.
Also the idea I can’t change parts/ service my own car! WTF ?!
C. O.
It's videos like this that make me not want a tesla.
yamamancha
The level of excuses and leeway people allow Tesla is unbelievable. The power of fandom is immeasurable. Tesla will never succeed in Japan with this level of product or service quality.
Keith Luken
I am continually amazed at all the folks that love Tesla’s with all these customer service issues. Tesla still is acting like they just started business this year. Curious to see how Tesla’s is doing in 5 years when the competition is there.
Malcolm Dean
This is why I'd never own a Tesla. Great channel, but I wish everyone would quit supporting the Twitter Troll Musk and his company.
Myriaddsystems
So among the major problems is poor build quality then
xman559
They do not want to sell you parts. They want complete control and service everything thru them so in the long run they can charge you more.
--.
How are you a professional on these subjects? What a waste of time listening to you.
James D
I like this channel. However, probably < 1 in 250,000 tesla owners are taking their Tesla to the track and of those,
Happy Seedlen
Man, this guy is worst than a Karen... lol..u know about cars so much just lift the car and do the service yourself. smh
Bullet Shard
You do a whole lotta defending and simping for tesla man. 6hrs for wheels is unacceptable and the performance wheel debacle was even worse stop apologizing for expecting proper customer service from those tesla clowns. The problem with teslas is that they're just big rc cars and they build them with the same lack of care🤣😂🤣
Javier Hernandez
I'd love tesla's but too bad the parts, service, and repair makes them utter garbage. Would rather have a Prius than a tesla if I had to own and maintain either out of pocket.
Rob C
Is your Tesla honeymoon over yet?

Tesla attitude and customer service sucks long live gas only for people who like to wast money

Was going to buy a model 3 performance but after reading some of the comments on service and parts looks like its going to be a Ford explorer st with a livernois tune for me lol 😆 had a 2017 explorer sport with a livernois tune and did not have a single issue other than one accident got hit by a car that flew across a divided highway had 15000.00 dollars worth of damage got it back in a month and it was perfect if that was a Tesla it would have been totaled or take a year to fix from what I've been reading would have expected better out of such a forward thinking company sounds like there parts are like there stock over inflated if you can get them 😂
Adriana Adnan
Theres wayyyy too many complaints about tesla repair sevices or parts. They better have a look at that
John Viera
Performance wheels. AKA pothole lunch.
Charles McStyles
Tesla get free wheels with every set of pads. Pads are expensive mind 😀😀😀
Jess Fletcher
Not a car just like apple watch isn't a watch
Anthony Joh
"Happily overcharge you for any performance part..." Cry-laughing in my BMW M3.
Joseph Clemons
Sounds like you got more money then since
Daddy V
Point is, Tesla is light years away from actually being a car manufacturer. Yes they provide a car. But service/ customer service is non existent. And you don’t start off on a good foot when the car they sell to you is held together with glue and duct tape. Bought a new model 3 in 2019. Sold it after 4 months due to all the issues. I came to the conclusion that I would not be able to rely on this as a daily driver (100 miles a day). It was once issue after the other, and Tesla was not able to provide me with the service I needed so that I could feel confident in my vehicle. Probably won’t buy Tesla for another 10 years, or wait till other manufacturers come out with better electric vehicles
J B
RockAuto has them
jjsmnow
Why did you record your voice in the car with all the noise in the background? Than you thought it was ok to post it on you tube? Really!

Why you buying ugly garbage 🤔🗑
elijah ben
i have Tesla model 3 2020 and is always problem with front trunk. can any one address this issue because i really don't want this car again, is so stress
Márton Léránt
So its like the Oculus II VR headset.
Its nice. Its beating every competitor on price by a large margin. However its also tied to extreme shitty service - in this case a facebook account with a real person behind it. So if you registered it to a fake account, or your account EVER gets in trouble with facebook TOS you bricked your device, AND lost your library of apps!
Dan Kaeser
1st world problems...
MrVolodus
Do you have to buy Tesla rims? Or brake pads?
Can't you just order your stuff and have it done anywhere else?
In EU (or at least Slovakia), third party services don't brake warranty by law.
Matt Eugenio
Damn what a headache...
333106
Tesla is just made to be a throw away car. When brake pads go bad, you buy a new car. They don't care about environmental consciousness. Tesla just wants more of your money anyway they can get it. Then, they dump your old model's lithium batteries in the landfill by the mega-ton.
Wing man
I just feel like smacking you, your sooo annoying, that’s my comment, enjoy
Wilhelmus Hoffmann
No Tesla for me, ever!
C Y
Basically they aren't friendly to right to repair
bloop
It feels like the car depends so much on the infotainment screen that you wouldn't be able to drive the car if the screen breaks.
dstfno
More and more manufacturers are going in this direction and I hope it won't be too long before they move back to (at least some) physical buttons. They sell the touch screens as innovation but it's in fact just cost cutting as it's way more difficult/expensive to wire dedicated buttons for each function. And as you correctly pointed out, it concentrated too much functionality in one single part of the car, once that breaks you're done for.
RAFAEL URQUIETA
Thats a huge bummer. Sorry no parts in stock. Lol
infirmux
Standardization of procedures to save costs in every place. There is just no procedure to get individual parts. Hot potato, because it takes time to manually find out.
It's nice to have Tesla to drive competition. It was nice to have Apple to drive competition. But now both are overpriced fashion items. High tech, well engineered, top quality, top design, practical fashion items. Fantastic if that's your thing, very good and easy in use, until they don't work, or you want something specific.
exiledrabbit
My dad has had a P90D since 2013 and man has it had so many issues
MCES LEX
Tesla no right to repair.
jetthelooter
Buy a junk car have junk car problems and it's got nothing to do with it being an ev. Tesla cars are just freeking trash.
mark smith
No thanks, i will stick with my challenger. I do not have to have the brakes serviced every year and the pads are only $75 front, $60 rear. That is Brembo brakes. Yes they do have more expensive pads but these work great.
Joshua Felty
Why is there no aftermarket parts for these cars? I find that very hard to believe that with the car community how we like to customize stuff and even make our own parts, that somebody did not manufacture brake pads for what Jason's talking about. I mean we can 3D print guns we can 3D print engine parts what's the problem.
john delong
Maybe they need the parts for the production line.
john delong
Can yootoob pay for tesla?
acefighterpilot
Can you please make a video explaining the MCU and if Tesla is right to claim it's a wearing item?
Kevin Kral
Most drivers will regard poor service and costly parts as a deal-breaker before the fact.
Tesla thus ensures their own premature demise.
Regards,
Kev
Jade Gibson
I guess the parts infrastructure will take some time. Don't forget it takes many years and thousands of vehicles sold before an established after market industry is built up around a certain vehicle platform or manufacturer. But if the overall product is meeting or even exceeding expectations, then I guess Tesla is doing its job.
furry .mp4
This is just a advertisment for toyota
Allan Smith
It has an electric drill for an engine . That is the biggest problem.
Antonio Renteria
trying to get a part
dealership: yes but give me lots and lots of money
tesla: what

It sounds like the the wheels only last as long as a set of pads anyways, maybe thats why they are only sold together😉
